Russell W. Kroll, 90, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Funeral services for Russell will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Castro officiating. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday, April 24th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the church. The Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146 to meet at 12:15 p.m. at the church to pay their respects. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens in the township of Trenton. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146.
Russell Wayne was born the son of Herman and Lena (Reick) Kroll on October 28, 1922 in Beaver Dam. He was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. Russell proudly served his country as a sergeant in the United States Army from 1943 – 1946 with duty as an engineer in the Philippines and New Guinea.
He was united in marriage to Rose Elaine Foreman on September 6, 1946 in Edenville, Pennsylvania. Later, he was employed for 38 years with Wisconsin Power and Light Company as a supervisor.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam and also a member of the Beaver Dam American Legion Post # 146. Russell loved the outdoors and was a great sportsman. He especially enjoyed duck hunting and golfing with his wife Elaine.
Russell is survived by his daughter-in-law Robin (James) Buhrow of Beaver Dam and three grandchildren: Jonathan Kroll of Beaver Dam, Heidi Chantry and William Chantry both of Reston, Virginia; his great granddaughter Hailey Ann Kroll of Beaver Dam and a great grandson expected in July. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Herman and Lena, his wife of 64 years Elaine in 2010, his son Richard in 1999, his daughter Christine Chantry in 2003 and his sister Bernice Ehlert.
