Sam Tomovich, age 79, of Fox Lake and formerly of South Milwaukee, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
Visitation for Sam will be at the Murray Funeral Home, 131 East Maple Avenue in Beaver Dam, on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 1:00 PM. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Sam was born on November 20, 1933 in South Milwaukee, the son of Harry and Helen Tomovich. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. On August 13, 1960, Sam was united in marriage with Rosemary Victory in Cudahy. He worked for the South Milwaukee Police Department and retired as Deputy Chief. In retirement, Sam and Rosemary moved to Fox Lake where Sam was a member of the Fox Lake American Legion Post #521. He was a former member of the Oak Creek American Legion Post #434 and the Oak Creek VFW Post # 8482, where he served as commander of each post for one year.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Tomovich; six children, Christine (Sam) Stephenson of Beaver Dam, Larry (Lisa) Tomovich of Milwaukee, Cathy Tomovich of Beaver Dam, Cindy (Paul) Palkowski of Cudahy, Carolyn Tomovich of West Allis, and Tim Tomovich of Milwaukee; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers and a sister, George Tomovich of Portage, Stella Braam of Wauwatosa, and Nick (Pat) Tomovich of West Allis; other relatives and friends. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law; his sister, Shirley Malik, and a brother-in-law, Bobby Victory.
