Sandra A. Zapotocny, 60, of Columbus passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Columbus Community Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus with the Rev. Robert Wilke officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Koepsell-Zeidler Funeral Home in Columbus, and also on Saturday from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Columbus.
Sandra Ann was born the daughter of Calvin and Theresa (Schneider) Loomis on September 13, 1952 in Mondovi, WI. She was a 1973 graduate of Regis High School in Eau Claire, WI. Sandra was united in marriage to Robert Zapotocny on May 29, 1976 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus. Sandy had a passion for the care of animals, and was a vet tech for several veterinary clinics and a dog groomer for several years.
Sandy was a devoted Christian and was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus. She served as secretary for the WI Columbia Sheep Association. Sandy was a member of the Columbus Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She especially loved her volunteer position at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Sandy loved her flower gardens, raising and showing sheep, but most of all, she was devoted to her family. She never missed a family function and loved being a grandmother.
Sandy was born with a congenital heart defect with a prognosis of a limited life expectancy; however, she far exceeded it. She will be missed.
Sandy is survived by her husband of 37 years, Robert of Columbus; her daughter Mary Schleicher; her granddaughters: Alyssa Schleicher and Faith Rutz; her father, Calvin Loomis; her sisters: Kathy (Greg) Boldon, Mindy (John) Mathews, her brother-in-law, John (Kathy) Zapotocny and further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, her father and mother-in-law: William and Gertrude Zapotocny and her brother-in-law, Tom Zapotocny.
Memorials: Memorials in Sandy’s name may be made to the Volunteers of Columbus Community Hospital.
