Sandra L. Kilkenny, age 62, formerly of Minocqua, died peacefully at her home in Beaver Dam, surrounded by her loving family.
A memorial gathering will take place at Ascension Lutheran Church, 7937 US Hwy 51 South, in Minocqua on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 4:30 PM until 5:30 PM. A memorial service will follow at the church on Friday with Rev. Jensen officiating. Beverages and snacks will be served at the church after the service. There will also be a memorial luncheon at the Delavan Legion Post #95, 111 South Second Street, in Delavan on Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Deacon Philip Kikenny will be giving the blessing of the meal.
Sandra Lee Mawhinney was born on May 10, 1949 in Elkhorn, Wisconsin to Donald and Helen Mawhinney. She grew up in the Delevan area and raised her family in Minocqua. Sandra was very active in the Minocqua area, helping with various fund raisers and working for different businesses. She was dedicated to helping raise money for the Alzheimer”s Association Golf Outing and American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Sandra was an exceptional gardener and had a knack for decorating. She was most passionate at being a loving mother and friend. Sandra was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Minocqua.
Survivors are her children, Helen Kilkenny of Wisconsin Dells, Brian (Liliana) Kilkenny of Mexico, Tracy Teegen, Cindy (Carl) Kuehn and Patrick Diez, all of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Karen and Ian, Dominic and Zoe, Carl and Tristan, and Kayanna; mother, Helen (Bill) Webster of Harshaw; sister, Diane McLernon of Elkhorn; brother, Art (Katie) Mawhinney of Waterford, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Mawhinney and husbands, Lawrence “Red” Kilkenny and Larry Diez.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Sandra L. Kilkenny”s name to the Alzheimers Association or the American Cancer Society.
