Shirley A. Quandt, age 87, of Mayville passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Summit Aurora Hospital in Oconomowoc, WI following a fall. A private family graveside service was held with Pastor Ken Schaub officiating. A public memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Mayville, WI on May 21, 2022 at 12 pm, visitation prior from 11-12. Luncheon following services. Shirley Anne Schultz was born on September 3, 1934 in Mayville, WI, daughter of Erwin and Edna Metke Schultz. She grew up on Henninger Street and was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. Shirley was a 1952 graduate of Mayville High School. Shirley was united in marriage to Edgar ‘Red’ Walter Quandt on September 17, 1955 and their 49-year happily-ever-after centered around Mayville.Shirley enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a 50-year Dodge County elections worker and in her young adult years also worked as a secretary (administrative assistant) for the West Bend Company, Maysteel, and Schinderle Insurance. In her spare time, Shirley enjoyed collecting Hummel figurines and cheering on the Packers. Her service included Senior Luther League, Aid Association for Lutherans, singing with the Church choir, and quick response to many committees. She liked to travel with Edgar, created perfect needlepoint, beautiful cut-out Christmas cookies, and could wrap a gift as if prepared for a photo shoot. Her phenomenal recall of detail is fondly recounted by her grandchildren, of whom she was exceptionally proud; “Before there was Google, there was Grammy”.Survivors include her son Greg and wife Teresa of Peachtree City, GA. Her grandchildren; Matthew Quandt and wife Rebecca of Arlington, VA, Lindsay Quandt Gossner and husband Joel of Atlanta, GA, and Joshua Quandt and wife Jada of Atlanta, GA. Sister-in-law Violet Schultz of West Bend, WI. Her first great-grandchild, James Edgar Quandt of Arlington, VA, was happily anticipated. Her niece, Christine Bauer and husband Joe of Peoria, AZ. Her nephew, David Quandt and wife Christine of Lomira, WI. Extended friends and family also affectionately recall her kind-hearted, thoughtful, and determined soul.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (General or Music) or the Mayville Park Pavillion Memorial Trust.Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Edgar, and brothers Gordon and Willis ‘Dick’ Schultz.
