Sidney “Sid” Charles Patey, Guernsey dairy farmer, Fox News loyalist and loving husband, father and grandfather died Monday, January 13, 2014.
He was born to Edwin and Patricia Patey in Waukesha on March 20, 1949. He attended UW-River Falls and loved his brothers of Alpha Gamma Rho. He graduated with a B.S. in Ag Education and a fiancAC.e. He married his college sweetheart, Joyce Pace, of St Paul, Minnesota in 1971. That same year, he and his father moved their family”s registered Guernsey dairy farm from Waukesha to Reeseville and established Farview Farm.
Sid loved just about everything about farming, except maybe the milk prices. He was one of the first dairy grazers in Dodge County and a board member of Grassworks, Inc. He was also a member of the American Guernsey Cattle Club, DHIA, WI Guernsey Breeders Association, FFA and 4-H.
It was Sid”s failing health that forced him to sell his beloved Guernsey cattle in 2012. It was an end to the Patey”s 95-year farming legacy.
Sid”s other love was his family. Joyce, his wife of 42 years, gave him three children; and they gave him five grandchildren with a sixth on the way. He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Pace) Patey; his children, Kristin (Michael) Wagner of Erin, Kari Patey of New York City, Jay (Casey) Patey of Burnett; and grandchildren Lily, Nora, Evelyn Wagner and Reagan & Xander Patey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Patricia (Gustine) Patey and his sister, Sherrin Patey.
Visitation for Sid will be at the First United Church of Christ in Reeseville on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 3:00 PM to 5:50 PM. Funeral services will follow at church beginning at 6:00 PM with Lay Minister Carrie Schuett officiating. Private family burial will be at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha.
Sid was inspired by the great sacrifice of our service members. It was Sid”s wish for all memorials to be sent to the Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 200, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
