Stephen Matthew Nissen, age 47, of Mayville, passed away after his courageous battle against cancer on Monday, June 6, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Froedert Health in West Bend.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Mayville on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Father Tom Biersack presiding. A visitation will also take place at St. Mary of Good Counsel Catholic Church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Mequon, and a luncheon will be held at St. Mary of Good Counsel Catholic School in Mayville following the entombment. There will be a celebration of Steve’s life following the luncheon at the family’s farm.Stephen was born on April 29, 1969 in Milwaukee to his parents Ronald and Barbara (Tautges) Nissen. Stephen had a very strong faith and was well versed in scripture; he enjoyed sharing his view and wisdom. Stephen was passionate about fixing and restoring autos and connecting with family and friends on Facebook. His greatest love in life was spending time with his daughter Brittney. Stephen had a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for his Mother.Stephen is survived by his father, Ronald (Linda) Nissen; his mother, Barbara Nissen-Kerchoff, daughter, Brittney Nissen of Hartford; special friend, Ruby Herringa and step daughters, Eva Herringa and Jessica Herringa of Hartford; his sister, Patricia (Douglas) Lane of Stevens Point, and brothers, Gregory (Renee) Nissen of Germantown, and Daniel (Laura) Nissen of Iron Ridge. Stephen is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and step father, Robert Kerchoff (Barbara).The family would like to give a special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital Froedert Health in West Bend for their compassionate care.Stephen battled cancer for several years, yet he never complained, always stayed positive and had exceptional faith. Stephen was a true inspiration to those who knew and loved him.A fund has been established at Mayville Savings Bank in the name of Stephen Nissen for those wishing to contribute in covering medical and funeral expenses.
