Steven D. Neuman, 65, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2018 at Hillside Manor after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A memorial gathering for Steve will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Beaver Dam on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon. A memorial service will follow at the church at 12:00 Noon with Father Michael J. Erwin officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery. He was born on December 19, 1952 the son of Francis J. and Arlene (Schepp) Neuman in Beaver Dam. He was a 1971 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. Steve was a master plumber and began his career at L. M. Neuman Plumbing and Heating in Beaver Dam. He then continued his career at Neuman Mechanical Contractors in Madison, Rohde Brothers Mechanical in Plymouth, Economy Plumbing in Madison, Pecatonica Plumbing in Blanchardville and at Lichtfeld Plumbing in Madison. Steve had also been a plumbing instructor at Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac. Steve was a dedicated fisherman and enjoyed the sport throughout his life. He also enjoyed working and spending time on the Beaver Dam area farm where he resided for many years. Steve is survived by his wife Cindy Detert Neuman; his children: Stephanie (Chad) Husnick, Steven (Anna) Neuman and Emilee Neuman; his mother Arlene Neuman; his brothers and sisters: Charles (Rhonda Fitzgerald) Neuman, Tim (Chris) Neuman, Randy (Shannon) Neuman, Jean (Ken) Mack, Mary (Andrea Petersen) Neuman and Jenifer (Jay) Posick; four grandchildren Sebastian and Liam Husnick and Evelyn and Charlotte Neuman; his in-laws: Bob (Kitty) Detert, Dick (Ellen) Detert, Bonnie (John) Cardinal and Randy Detert, his former wife Bobette Ireland (Stephanie Husnick). He is further survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Francis “Butch” Neuman in 2002 and his mother and father-in-law Virgil and Marilyn (Koepke) Detert. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Steve’s name may be directed to Beaver Dam Community Hospitals, Inc. Hillside Hospice or to the Carbone Cancer Center.
