Virginia Reif, age 92, died on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Charleston House Memory Care in Beaver Dam.
Visitation for Virginia will be at Annunciation Catholic Church in Fox Lake on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at church on Tuesday at 12:00 Noon. Fr. Michael L. Wild will officiate. Burial will be at St. Patrick”s Cemetery in the Town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.
The former Virginia A. Nelezen was born on May 9, 1919 in Omro, Wisconsin to the late Bernard and Mabel (LaBorde) Nelezen. She graduated from Omro High School in 1937 and from LeClair Beauty School in Milwaukee in 1938. On April 29, 1950, she was united in marriage with Harold J. Reif at St. Mary”s Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Virginia owned and operated a beauty shop in Oshkosh before moving to Beaver Dam in 1952. Once in Beaver Dam, Virginia and Harold opened Beaver Dam Paint and Glass and have operated it until recently. Virginia loved to bowl when she was younger and she was a 600 bowler, too. In more recent years, she loved to gamble and enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and to Ho-Chunk. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Fox Lake.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Reif of Beaver Dam; her daughter, Karen (Jim) Reif-Miller of Beaver Dam; a sister-in-law, Joan Nelezen of Minnetonka, MN; ten nieces and nephews, Carlene (Doug) Flaherty of Neenah, Judy Weigman of Appleton, Christine (Kevin) Kline of Harrisburg, PA, Jane (John) Tomkins of Idaho, Lisa Nelezen of Minnetonka, MN, Vicki Nelezen of Oshkosh, Salley (Tim) Redding of Minnetonka, MN, Mark (Cindy) Nelezen of Oshkosh, Richard (Joan) Weigman of Houston, TX, and Jim (Kathy) Weigman of Appleton; several great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Mary Reif; and two brothers, Clarendon (Marian) Nelezen and Victor Nelezen.
If desired, memorials may be made in Virginia Reif”s name to the Dodge County Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society.
