Walter J. “Wally” Marquardt, age 80, of Beaver Dam, died on Monday, April 8, 2013 at his home after a long and courageous battle with metastatic skin cancer.
The visitation for Walter will be at Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 AM, with Chaplain Dennis Richards officiating. Burial will be at Lowell Cemetery.
Walter J. Marquardt was born on February 6, 1933 in Baraboo, Wisconsin to the late George & Stella (Neitzel) Marquardt. He married Sandra Herman on April 6, 1988 in Baraboo. He was a 1952 graduate of Baraboo High School, and was drafted into the Army, serving from 1955 until 1957. He had worked at Hoppe Clothing Store, as well as Baraboo Concrete, and retired from the Sauk County Highway Department in 1994 after more than 20 years of employment.
Survivors include his wife Sandra Marquardt of Beaver Dam; a brother, Clifford Marquardt of Baraboo; children, Brenda Pieper of Beaver Dam, Rhonda Burden of Burnett, and Joe Herman of Fond du Lac; grandchildren, Ashley, Logan, Trent, Mariuh, Cody, Tyler, Dylan, Keegan, Lydia, and Micah; many cousins, other relatives and friends. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, and a son-in-law Clyde “Butch” Burden.
