William Warren Dawson

William “Bill” Dawson, age 89, of Fox Lake, died on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The memorial gathering will be at St. John”s Lutheran Church in Fox Lake on Friday, June 8, 2012 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The memorial service will follow at the church on Friday at 11:00 AM with Rev. David A. Nottling officiating.

William Warren Dawson was born on November 26, 1922 in Mansfield , Ohio to Jake and Ada (Thuma) Dawson. He grew up on a farm in Ohio and in 1948 he was united in marriage with Charlotte Heslep in Johnsville. They were blessed with three children. Bill continued to work in the farm industry all of his life. From horse drawn plows to motorized plows, Bill has seen the industry change, and was proud to be a part of it. He was a salesman for DeLaval Co., selling cleaning chemicals for farm machinery. He then worked for Great Lakes Chemical as a salesman and they were looking for someone to be a sales representative for the Wisconsin area which led him to Fox Lake. Bill met Lois Wienke and they were united in marriage on July 18, 1981 at St. John”s Lutheran Church in Fox Lake. They stayed in the Fox Lake area and Bill took a job as a salesman for Safeway Chemical of Milwaukee until his retirement. He was a long-time member of St. John”s Lutheran Church.

Survivors are his wife, Lois Dawson of Fox Lake; children, Michael (Maureen) Dawson of Edwardsville, IL, John (Sharon) Dawson of Dublin, OH, Julie (John) King of Danville, CA, Richard (Sally) Wienke of Kenosha, Janet Sperger of Waupun, Ronald Wienke of Markesan, Robert (Anita) Wienke of Apache Junction, AZ, Russell Wienke of Fox Lake, and Karen (John) Boortz of Dalhart, TX; 19 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Betty Connell of Columbus, OH, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Franklin Dawson.

My condolences to your family. I remember Dick as an assistant football coach at Dodgeland High School in charge of lineman during my playing days in the late 70's and early 80's. He was my favorite football coach. He was always very enthusiastic with my fellow teammates. Great guy.

So sorry to hear of Dick's passing. Remembering him as a classmate through elementary and high school I can't think of anyone as friendly, kind generous. I know he will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
